I feel as if I have just lost a big brother (RIP Richard)

I have just read in this evening's newspaper about the tragic loss of Richard.
I grew up watching the original BSG and my favourite character Apollo always came across as a caring 'big brother' character to me. And so this terrible news of Richard passing away feels to me like a loss of a family member.

We are now entering a very sad time in our lives where we are saying goodbye to both our own loved-ones & those artists & celebrities who have both enriched our lives & inspired us growing up.

Of all the celebrities who have passed on in the last tragic 14 months Richard's has devastated me the most. Especially because he never realised his dream of continuing the beloved BSG series after 20 years of hard work trying to bring it back to either the silver screen or to TV. That opportunity had been stolen from him by the 'remake-BSG' (which I had honestly despised but I am at least grateful to the producers for letting Richard appear as the on-going character Tom Zarek in the remake show, allowing classic-BSG fans to enjoy Richard's talent).

I was also saddened to hear about the loss of Carrie Fisher last December but at least we finally managed to see Carrie resurrect her character of Leia in TFA. Sadly we will never get the chance to see Richard do the same with Apollo which makes his loss feel even more tragic.

I only hope that the current plans of the studios to faithfully re-make the original BSG story finally come into fruition, and that maybe they will 'resurrect' Richard in a final cameo through the use of CGI. Much like the wonderful tribute they had done to Peter Cushing by briefly resurrecting his portrayal of Grand Moff Tarkin in the Brilliant Rogue-1 movie.

I only hope that Richard will finally get his chance to appear in another incarnation of the original BSG story. It would be a wonderful tribute to a great actor & Role Model.

Thank you Richard for the beautiful memories of Captain Apollo & for inspiring me during my childhood. Our thoughts go with your family during this sad time. Please rest peacefully & remember: 'there are those of us who still believe'.........

Goodbye Richard
