Couldn't Laurie buy BLACK tape for her car?

The movie is trying way too hard to make us feel sorry for Laurie. She's got all this white masking tape all over the black top of her car to hold it together. This is clearly for a reason. Of course she could have bought some black tape so it would not show but she has all this white tape all over her top just so the audience will see it and feel more sorry for her. Very small thing to point out but it needs to be addressed.
