Screened in Savannah, Ga. on 6 Jan. 2010, and WOW.
The Savannah Psychotronic Film Society gathers each Wednesday (at The Sentient Bean on Park Ave.) for a film that's off the radar in one way or another, and last night's title was this jaw-dropper. I thought I knew what to expect; I've seen thousands of films of every stripe, and I'd read about this one, and friends who've seen it had described its ineptitude and tried to prepare me for it. But I learned last night that until seeing YETI you can scarcely fathom how awful everything -- EVERYTHING -- in it is, or how truly funny it is.
I would always rather see a great film than a terrible one. Most titles described as "so bad it's good" simply impress me as bad; I'm not an MST3Ker or an attender of Dan Aykroyd's Le Bad Cinema.
But THIS film WAS fun. The unintentional hilarity provoked by nearly every frame had the entire house laughing out loud from start to finish.
I've waded through Ed Wood and Andy Milligan and Jerry Warren crap wondering how and why I was doing it, but last night my jaw hung slack and I laughed my ass off.
You should have been there.
