Favorite scene

My favorite scenes are the train scene when he keeps thinking that guy is Annie, and the scene with Annie and Rudy in the tent and Rudy has that high pitched voice pretending to be Rudolph Valentino.

Rudy: oh boy look at those gams, now thats what I call good lookin

Annie: take me!
Rudy: where?

"I'm a little sissy boy!" Haha, I love that part.

I want...I want...I WANT EVERYTHING I'VE EVER SEEN IN THE MOVIES!

The scene in the beginning where the guy says ---

"YOU SON OF A B---H! YOU'RE FIRED!"

The patio dance scene, with the Nilsson song "Ain't It Kind of Wonderful" played by the band.

I love "Ain't It Kind of Wionderful," which Gene Wilder wrote and Harry Nilsson recorded. In the credits, it appears Harry's name was added after the film was released – it just credited Gene as the writer. I wonder why they left Harry's name off the original release?

Fancy meeting you again, Warp. I happened to watch this movie last night, and the song "Ain't It Kind of Wonderful" really blew me away. You're right about the Nilsson credit looking like it was added later (it's in yellow while all the other credits are b&w).

In the commentary, Gene mentions how he & Nilsson became good friends after the movie was finished when the song was being recorded. My guess is maybe the credits had already been finalized at that point without soundtrack mentions, but Gene really wanted to add special credit to his pal.

P.S. My favourite scene would probably be the opening with Dom Deluise brutalizing that poor barber, especially

ZITZ: How's that for an idea?
Yesman #1: Great!
Yesman #2: Gweat!
Yesman #3: Great, yust great!
Barber: Very good!
ZITZ: RRrrrghhh... cheee.. sckgch...
Barber: I mean GREAT!
ZITZ: TOOOOO LATE!!! [chokes barber]

Hello, my Roopy Rover! Fancy meeting you here too!

I'm glad you have the DVD with commentary, because I just had an old VHS and had no idea why those credits seemed tacked on. It's quite a song, isn't it? Harry Nillson's music was perfect in the movies.

I love that opening scene with Dom DeLuise! Lots of funny moments in this film, though it seems the whole is lesser than the sum of its parts. Feels a bit like a TV sketch.

I remember seeing part of this while it played on HBO in the late '70s. It only took 30-plus years to see the rest of it.

Well, I have to get back to work. I'll response to your "Stooge" post soon, and I still owe you a "Buck Howard" reply one of these days. I'm better with newer posts than older ones, unfortunately. I hope you're doing well, and I'll see you on the obscure boards.

the barber who takes the beating - i love those scenes. Also the hotel managers conversation in the prison. But for some reason it is the scene where he finds the "swimming pool" in his hotel room that wins with me - i cannot shake that scene even these many years after.
