Magic vs. Technology Error?

Near the beginning, Avatar is telling that weird clown-mask guy about how technology was outlawed thousands of years ago. He then catches a bird that's being annoying and puts it back in its cage. Then he magically transforms the birdcage into a jukebox?

Wouldn't a jukebox be considered technology?

[Warning: Possible Spoilers Ahead]

I thought the same thing when I first viewed this scene. I came up with two possible explanations:

A) Perhaps the banned technology that Avatar speaks of is, in fact, weapons technology. This might seem to fit the parallel with Nazi Germany being demilitarized until Adolf Hitler decided to challenge those restrictions and re-militarize Germany,

B) Perhaps this is a subtle wink to the audience about power and those who hold it, whether they are "good" or "evil" -- Avatar the "Good" is a bit of a drunken, oafish old man Wizard who is past his prime, and uses his magic to break the rules whenever they suit him. This is a departure from the stalwart and never-erring goody-two-shoes that we see and hear in other stories. This ties in well with his final confrontation with Dark-Wolf.

C) Perhaps a little of both

Of course, these aren't the only possible interpretation for this action. So if anyone else wants to chime in, feel free to share your ideas. :)

Cheers,

Mike

Maybe its a magic jukebox which isnt necessarily technology. Like an illusion that magically plays anything he wants. I don't know, just a thought.
