Favorite Scene?

Ok, since the DVD is coming very soon, I thought we should get this message board kicking. So what was everyones favorite scenes? and why?

Here are mine:

1) Final Battle/Blackwolfs Demise; That scene was awesome, I love large scale battles and there was some really cool and inteteresting animation and rotoscoping used. I also liked the moments when the elves picked up the guns and were using them, and the music during the battle was great. And Blackwolf's demise was awesome and very much in character with Avatar's cynicism. And it was great "Oh yeah, one more thing. I'm glad you changed your last name you son of a bitch!" and blam blam. awesome.

2) The Peace Weehawk chase. Very cool and when I saw that when I was 12 I was so pumped for the movie.

3) The introduction of Avatar as an old man, smoking his cigar with his foot and just generally being an old fool.

4) Weehawk saving Avatar when he's all out of it.

That's all I can think of.

I'm still amazed by the scene in the woods with all the little fairies. It is fair to say that the animation in Wizards is uneven and often quite bad (tho I forgive it, seems many don't), but I think the creativity and quality of this one scene redeems the whole film, at least visually speaking. Seems to have influenced the guys who did a similar scene in "The Black Cauldron." Anyway, as a kid I was devastated when Shaun, the leader of the fairies (Mark Hamill, lol) was shot and there's a close up of him lying there dead. I thought about that for months later, it was really a summation of the film's message for me (technology destroying nature/beauty) and time hasn't diminished it's power IMHO, it's still sad. First battle scene is similar, when the old guy is preparing the kid for battle, then you later see his pipe drop and blood rivulet. It's subtle, effective and thoughtful (so unlike Bakshi! Ha ha).

Also love the scene in the court of the Fairyking because Elinore is funny when she's trapped and that thing is crawling up her leg. "I have always been verrrry...verryy...good...and sometimes I could even be a little better...Avatar...could you hurry it up a little please?" Or something like that. I like that Elinore, tho many would say she's a sexist stereotype bimbo, and I suppose she is, has moments where she's quite strong, intelligent and always sexy...

Naaaah. Elinore was one of my role models, and I had a girlfriend in high school who looked a LOT like her. She and I both loved Elinore, and Mae West.

My favorite scene? It's been a while since I've seen the movie, so this isn't an exact quote, but it's when Avatar is thinking, and Elinore asks what she can do to help, and Avatar says, "Just stay where you are." So she assumes this cheesecake pose and cheerfully says, "Okay!"

My favorite scene is when the two guys go into the church thing lookin for the priests. The two are hilarious, and the dim witted dude is the best.

"Heeeyy hey ord what is this place?"

"It's religion man, haven't you heard?"

"What're we lookin for?"

"The priests man, the priests!"

"...why?.."

"...I dunno.....guess 'cause you need God on your side stupid..."

"who's that? (it's them) who's that? who's that? (it's them it's them!)"

hahaha, great.

That scene is always one of my favorites.

I am picking up my copy on Thursday! I hope the transfer was worth my long long long wait.

My favorite scene has to be the one towards the middle where Blackwolf's ladyfriend (never could tell if they were married or not) pleads for her child not to be killed. Goes to show a mother can love anything, if if it is a mutant. How would Blackwolf have felt if his mom had ordered his death?!

If you like the movie yer gonna love the DVD--it's got some great stuff on it and was made specifically for the loyal fans...I won't spoil the surprises here, just get it and check it out and enjoy! There were lots of things in the supplements that "answered" little questions I've always had about the movie, it was great. I think the transfer is as good as it could get, espec if you have a 16X9 t.v.!!

I have to agree with the Killed Fritz scene. My friends and I use to act it out in middle school.

Thanks for starting this page exorcissy72 (and for correcting Kant...'s mistakes on other boards for this movie). Many great scenes have been mentioned here. I would like to add one that amazed me at the time, and still does today. When Peace is sitting in wait for Weehawk and his friend while they are hiding in the valley the scene shifts from day to night with a beautiful change of color (especially for a pre-computer animated film) and then the ghost of a dinosaur retreats in fear. I know that since there is no dialogue it won't be on a lot of peoples list so, again, I thank you for creating a spot where I can mention it.

I'll make a good Gordon, Gordon!

I agree with the change of night to day with Peace on the cliff and the silent turning of the ghost dinosaur. But one scene that really effected me was the journey of Elinore and Avatar through the snow. I think the music in that scene made it memorable. And Avatar calls her snow queen. She looks lovely, even in the parka. I love the vocal song as well and it brings back a good memory of how great this film actually is.

I love the You Killed Fritz scene. I would have liked to know Fritz.

I love when Blackwolfs men are watching his video and playing around. Kind of funny seeing them not give a *beep*

I love the ending. It's a slap in the face to Blackwolf's use of technology. Using his own means of power against them.

Avatar smoking with his feet (short people you know) and the fight with the rat over chicken. lol

Seeing Necron 99 grow from being evil to being good as Peace. Makes you feel sorry for him when he dies.

I love the whole movie.

My favorite scene is the very beginning, as they describe all that transpired to get us to the start of the movie.
