What is the name of that other fantasy cartoon?

I remember seeing another fantasy cartoon when I was younger, from either the 70s or 80s, with these characters in it who storm this castle and there is some magical showdown or something... I used to think it was this but it's definitely not, this is far darker/weirder than the one I'm thinking of. I remember there being fairies though I think, flying around... and I think one character who was particularly comical... I know it's not much to go on, I wish I could remember more... Does anyone have any ideas?

There was a movie called Fairies that was made for tv in the 80's it kind of matches that description.

Fire and Ice didn't have any fairies in it. It wouldn't be that one.

On a similar topic, I'm looking for an animated SF movie I saw a long time ago (western animation, not manga), the plot of which involves the young survivor of a crashed spaceship on an alien planet, who is alone but can communicate with someone via a hand-held radio who he calls 'Mike' but doesn't know his real name. It was pretty dark and surreal, and I think the kid even gets eaten by alien monsters at the end. No idea what its called though. I know thats virtually no information to go on, but can anyone help me out?

Found it. Its called Les Maitres du temps. Apparently the dubbed version I saw as a child no longer exists, but there's a subbed DVD available.

Back in the early nineties, a friend brought me an animated film that reminded me of the DEN segment from Heavy Metal. I can't remember the name of the film or much of the plot. The only thing I can remember for sure is that the characters reminded me of the Den story. One of the main themes of the movie seemed to be that time was like a circle. The main quote that was repeated throught the movie was that everything "WAS, WILL BE".
I know this isn't much to go on but I have tried to find this film for years. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mentioned later in the posts, someone mentioned the black cauldron. Thats one possability because there were faries in it. But if your looking for a movie with similar animation style, then I'll mention The Flight Of Dragons. BAd guy is voiced by james earl jones, so its a pretty good watch. Bakshi also made an animated "Lord of the Rings" film mixing animation and rotoscoping. I have it on VHS.
