I saw this in 1979 in a San Diego Navy base theater

I was about 20 years old.

It really hit home for me.

I was a young man coming into my own, striking out into the world on my own at last.

That is a big part of this movie--the sadness and wonder and power of being on your own.

Being a young person in California in the late 70s was also about drugs.

Drugs were a big part of that lifestyle for young people back then.

This movie and its music kind of captured that sort of lifestyle for those days.

Was it at NTCC? I was stationed there in the late 80s/early 90s and saw MANY films at the base theater. I miss that place. I miss that whole time of my life actually.

We'll see whose the filthiest person alive! We'll just see!
