Did Baskin Robbins Money Finance This Movie?

ok, now Richard Baskin, whose music is showcased in this movie, is part of the baskin family, which is basically a zillionaire family.

My question is whether that money bought Baskin the showcasing of his music?

Now, I love the movie and Baskin's music. But even those who love this music can surely agree that his music and voice are NOT commercial.
Someone posted a clip of this movie online somewhere and claimed the song in that clip was the worst song ever put on film.

I liked the song.
But I can understand the viewpoint of others, because it is clear that baskin is someone who became a musician, ah, not organically.

Baskin music was also featured in NASHVILLE, to a lesser degree. Did his family money finance that movie as well?

Late reply, but I was wondering the same thing. He is not appealing or commercial in any sense, and the fact that he mirrors Carrol's character (songwriter son of a millionaire), makes me think he had some sort of say in the film.
