Are you a professional turd-polisher? This entire production, in spite of being the most expensive film of it's kind from Toho at the date it played, is tired, unimaginative, and sorely lacking in innovation. It is such a fail that it gets it's ass handed to it by the film that started this story, Chikyu Boueigun from
1957. That film was beautifully designed, and you know the director loved what he was doing and pulled out all the stops. I love Toho soundtracks. Akira Ifukube music makes you want to cheer on the action. The soundtrack from WiS goes from borrowed to damned-near un-listenable. If they wanted to save money they should have just used the same music from Chickyu Boeigun in light of the story connection, or at least decent updated versions of it.
Just curious regarding the music. During some of the fight scenes, do I detect riffs borrowed from Uchu Senkan Yamato? If you are familiar with that anime it was in most of the scenes where dogfights occurred. The reboot even has a similar track.
