To be honest I found the movie boring. It's not because

it's more of a woman's movie, but because there were too many ballet scenes and NOT enough drama.

I thought the characters were believable, though, and you could really feel Shirley's emotion emanate about missed opportunities and what ifs and Emma fulfilling her dreams and then realizing her dreams are passing.

I think Shirley's character had the better deal. I mean she has a family that loves her. What does Emma have? A career that's going by the wayside. Where's her family? She doesn't have one.

If you ask me, if I were in the same predicament in real life and a woman (obviously), then I'd pick having a family over a dream that will eventually fade into the sky.

I mean at the end of it all, when your career is over, who are you going to run to when you're all alone without a family because you spent your whole life fulfilling your dream?

Seems rather sad, so I think Shirley M. definitely had the better option than Emma. I wouldn't want to be in Emma's ballet slippers. 
