Mostly around San Diego. Solana Beach is the only suburb mentioned more than once, but nothing was actually filmed there! Oceanside was also mentioned as being fifty miles north. That's an oblique reference to San Diego which I don't recall being mentioned. Solana Beach is only about twenty miles from Oceanside.
What makes this weird is that it is a mostly Italian production. Some of it was filmed in Italy, I suspect the places with high cliffs right on the water. Only some places in La Jolla which is one of the locations would come close to those scenes in the San Diego area. I've never been to Pismo Beach. Anyone know what was filmed there?

share1. The trailer mentions Ocean Beach as the town, but in the film it's never mentioned. However, Ocean Beach does exist near San Diego. Ocean Beach pier to be exact. Located somewhere between Mission Bay and Point Loma.
2. The opening title shot is of the Children's Tide Pool in La Jolla, CA.
3. The stuff with the mother and the baby was shot on Shelter Island in San Diego.
4. It's possible that the cliffs could be the La Jolla caves/cove?
5. When the 2nd victim (the older man working on the sail boat, after the baby is killed) you can see part of San Diego in the background.
6. Signs for Solana Beach are shown twice which is between La Jolla and Oceanside.
7. The stuff with the Whales in the Aquarium was shot in Marineland near Palos Verdes.
The scenes on the dock where survivors of the big attack are dropped off were filmed in front of the Harbor Police station on Shelter Island. I was there watching them film it. My father was a Harbor Policeman at that time.
