Charles Bronson's actual name is Buchinsky

His parents are from Lithuania and that country was one of the 15 republics belonging to the Soviet Union until it's demise. So in fact, this role played by Bronson is actually realistic even though you obviously are an expert on the length of his KGB hairstyle. Wish you folks would get your facts straight before you opine on something you know nothing about. I happen to love this movie and all the great character actors aho had roles in it. I only wish it would be released on DVD before I pack it in.

I ran into Mr. Bronson at the Rexall Drug Store at Beverly and La Cienega in the Spring of 1981. We had a fairly long conversation where he told me that his parents were Ukrainians who lived in Lithuania.... I told him I kind of figured that because Lithuanians do not have names like Buchinsky..... most have names like Patalauskas or Lusis ... Mr. Bronson (neé Buchinsky) was a very cordial and gracious man. I was working at Paramount at that time and we had a few mutual friends. He passed away way too soon.

I suppose you are a woman(dawn+muse).. a guy cannot prove himself anything admirable by being gracious to women ..

Wrong. DawnMuse29 is correct: Chuck Bronson had a lot of class and was gracious to everyone he met, male or female. Although you don't know it, graciousness is admired and respected by everyone except ignorant trolls. My parents, who also had a lot of class, always taught me that being polite and gracious to everyone costs nothing BUT gains you everything, including respect AND admiration, except from the ignorant and the stupid.

People who make comments like yours easily identify themselves as trolls, and we all know that trolls have have no class and no respect. Trolls always become irritated and upset by good manners, politeness, gracious behaviour, and anyone with an average or above average intellectual capacity. Undisciplined, arrogant-without-cause, and ignorant trolls are a cancer upon society that requires radical surgery.

"Lithuanians do not have names like Buchinsky... most have names like Patalauskas or Lusis".

Lusis is a Latvian name, not Lithuanian.

This should put the issue of his "real" name to bed.

Wikipedia:

"Charles Bronson (November 3, 1921 – August 30, 2003), born Charles Dennis Buchinsky, was an American actor of Polish[1] and Lithuanian[2][3] background."

I just purchased the double feature DVD on Amazon: Charles Bronson Collection (Telefon / St. Ives) (released 2009). I'm really interested in Telefon (1977)

Some sources say he had Lipka Tatar ancestry. Tatars often have a somewhat "Asiatic" look, which Bronson had, indeed he could easily have portrayed Genghis Khan or one of his followers, though I don't believe he ever did. More generally Bronson did look rather East European, so having him play a Russian major was not bad casting.

Chuckie was just another poor kid in a mining town in Pennsylvania. The question of Polish or Lithuanian is common in that area. My family calls ourselves Polish/German, but the Polish could easily be Lithuanian.

I have a relative who brings out his photo of him and the gang before Chuck left for Hollywood. He was about 16 or 18 and he was just another guy on the work crew.

Mairzy doats and dozy doats, but liddle lamzi nothing.

Yes, Buchinsky could just as easily be Lithuanian Bucinskas, or something like that.
