Dorothy Putterman

I love how Putterman clinches an argument with her CIA superiors, Sandburg and Enders.

Putterman: Quite seriously, sir, I'd urge a full field investigation, an in-depth probe. We should probably call the FBI.

Sandburg: Screw the FBI.

Enders: Oh, they'd love that. Give them an excuse to check out the environmentalists, the folk dancing societies, organic food freaks and the... oh yes... the lefty priests.

Putterman: It's precisely that kind of attitude that led to the downfall of the Hittite empire. Excuse me.

My all-time favorite Tyne Daly role.

I actually found her character annoying.
Also, perhaps it isn't the film's fault but the state of the art computer equipment she spends time around now looks hopelessly dated, oddly enough, more so than the Cold War plot, because despite the dissolution of the USSR, US-Russian rivalry is still a feature of today's world.

Tyne Daly was delightful in that role.
