Red Herring Central

It's been a while since I've seen a film so full of red herrings starting with the great majority of townspeople acting in what can only be politely described as anti-social at best. For whatever reason we never find out.

This is best illustrated at the start of the film with the school students welcoming their new teacher with a playful hanging...a narrative occurrence that while bizarre, takes the story nowhere (though clearly designed to create "mystery" and "suspense") and is never referred to again!

IMO Bannings Beach needs more than a relief teacher.

It needs a team of counsellors...NOW!
