This video explains all, but if you're not going to watch it, let me sum it up:
You have JJ Abrams and his mystery boxes and how he loves to leave a lot of unanswered questions in his movies, and apparently Rian Johnson is the complete opposite: he hates continuing movie franchises and "ends" them in his movies, in this case, a "Viking funeral" for Last Jedi. The problem was that Kathleen Kennedy and even Bob Iger allowed him to do so, and in so doing CRIPPLED Star Wars to the point of no recovery. Note how Solo flopped afterwards and how Abrams was forced to write the bullshit that was Rise of Palpa- er, Skywalker. Johnson killed off Snoke AND Luke Skywalker, leaving Leia alive but Carrie Fisher dying causing all manner of problems for the Star Wars producers and Abrams.
The Mandalorian helped Star Wars as a TV show and Disney+, but the firing of Gina Carrano caused more problems on that medium as well. No-one's paying attention to Star Wars TV shows with writing disasters and flops like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Boba Fett, and even halfway decent shows like Andor are being ignored as a result, there have been no new Star Wars movies since Rise, and toy merchandise is sitting at vastly reduced prices and gathering dust on store shelves.
Last Jedi is the greatest, is it? Directed by the man who has extremely likely KILLED OFF Star Wars for good? Great logic, JBran(!)
The Force Awakens was a by the numbers bore-fest.
Last Jedi was great as the reviewers and I say.
Rise of Skywalker was a complete piece of crap. Cartoon crap having the Emperor survive had nothing to do with Johnson, why couldn’t they write something better.
