Imagine this section being one of many making up a sphere with the other side being about half a mile away past the undersurface. Now, just above the explosion, straight above from the ground as if it has just flown through, imagine a X-wing a couple of inches long pointed straight up towards the sky about 1 foot above the surface. The two proton torpedoes only having exploded on the surface near the exhaust port without having going in. That is basically the scale of the BoY.
