the Prequels should have added a new twist by making Obiwan the father

imagine if there was a secret fling between Obiwan and Padme.

when Obiwan retells the story he says "a pupil of mine called Darth Vader betrayed and murdered your father"

his pupil did betray him (obiwan), and "murdered" him metaphorically by forcing him to go into hiding, effectively ending his life in many ways.

so he wouldn't be lying from a certain point of view.

the prequels should have alluded to such a possibility to make it all more interesting.
hint at a secret fling between Obiwan and Padme behind Anakin's back.

I probably would have had a relationship between obi-wan and padme during phantom menace, since Anakin was too young. This could have fed into Anakin's insecurities in ROTS if he suspects Obi-Wan is cheating with his wife. (obi-wan doesn't need to, anakin just needs to think it)

well in their final confrontation Anakin did shout at Padme "you're with him!" pointing at Obiwan.
so maybe he did think that.

he was totally paranoid and deluded at that point. thinking the Jedi are evil and he's good even after he slaughtered a bunch of children and knew that Palpie was behind the war all along and yet still thought he's on the good side.
