The original trilogy was made for 14 year olds...

...and the prequels were made for 10 year olds, but the sequels were made for adults. I'll leave you to ponder the significance of those truths original trilogy diehards.

reply

True, the SHEquels WERE made for adult KARENS by adult Karens.

reply

Never mind, maybe the next trilOGY will be made for BUTThurt INcels by buttHURT inCELS !

reply

Disney lost so much money from the damage done by the SHEquels, there will probably never be another trilogy at least not any time soon.

I doubt they risk another failed movie again. I remember this was announced after TFA and everyone was high on nostalgia. I dont think it ever gets made now.

I mean, I'd never thought to put it that way before, but what you say... I've searched my feelings, and I know it to be true... Also fits my age groups for the OT and ST

I saw Attack of the Clones after driving without AC the longest 30 minutes on the hottest day in Texas, and my best friend and I left the theater thinking it could have been a lot better. We were 10 years old.

The beginning, the Colliseum scene, Yoda vs. Dooku, the thing with the bounty hunters. That's pretty good. But everything with Anakin is just good in parts, and he's the main guy. A lot of it was freaking boring.

I never will forget though, seeing him at the beginning and just totally believing him in the role.

The week before I heard a radio promo saying that Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmaron was a more exciting movie. I proclaimed, "Bogus! There's no way! Nothing's more action packed than Star Wars!"

The week after Star Wars, we drove the same 30 miles and saw Spirit, per request of my younger sister. I left the theater thinking, "Wow. That radio ad was right."

With that being said, there's nothing like being 10 years old and having your best friend come home with you after school Friday night, and going to see the new Star Wars the next day.

The movie kinda sucks. The theater is gone. Haven't called up the friend in a couple of years. But the memory lasts a lifetime. And the drive.

Well it's good to hear that you got around and enjoyed all those good vibrations back in the day. And wouldn't it be nice to go back to those times and hang out with some California girls !

reply

Did I mention the car we rode in was a little deuce coupe?

reply

Why? Texas girls are hotter.

Well, I do agree that the OT was aimed at fourteen year-olds. The prequels, though, I think Lucas aimed almost half at ten year-olds and half at late teens - early twenties. Revenge of the Sith is almost painfully trying to be "dark" and "edgy". As for the sequels, I think they were aimed older, yes, but I would thinking 16-25 was their biggest target.

The other thing to consider here is, not just the aim, but the actual targets hit.

The OT was aimed at early teens, but it hit everybody. Little kids love it, teens love it, adults love it.

The PT was aimed a little off-kilter, but let's say ten year-olds. Okay, and The Phantom Menace hit that target, but missed with adults.

The ST aimed at a higher age bracket, but isn't as universally beloved as the the OT.

Star Wars was made for adults. Hence all the political undertones.

It’s popularity with the kids due to cool space ships and robots and monsters changed how Empire and the rest were handled.

By Return of the Jedi we received an overwhelming amount of cutsie animals and dorky humor clearly aimed at 5yo. The garbage made since Empire isn’t even in the same galaxy as the original.

reply

LOL the sequels were made for adults. Thanks for the laugh. I guess it takes an adult to understand the subtlety of the "don't hold my hand" scene. All Star Wars movies are made for kids however some can appeal to adults.

reply

there is no way the sequel trilogy is deeper than the OT

reply

Is too !
