If you were stacking shelves in Galaxy-Mart...


...for a living, on minimum credits, why would it matter who was in charge of the Universe? What did Leia and the Jedi ever do for them?

Heck if I was a 3-party contractor working on the Death Star I'm be rooting for the Empire. Don't tell me you'd turn done the Emperors money.

Exactly, and that is why empires fall, because more and more people become willing to accept more and more "necessary evils" that benefit them. It's kind of a natural cycle.

Frankly, that would probably depend on how bad your own planet was governed, or how directly you were affected. If half the population of your planet had been conscripted to go work in the Death Star plating factory and they're put in front of firing squads if they don't make their quotas, you probably think the Empire is pretty bad.

If all you have to deal with is tax increases because someone needs to pay for a Death Star, well, you go from broke to still broke.
