Great movie

I saw this years ago and it has always been one of my favourite Btitish gangster movies. It has a grim and seedy quality you just don't get in movies any more. I didn't know who stephen Boyd was until I Wiki's him a while ago and it is a shame he died so young. I remember this film because of Alan Ford's venomous snarling appearance and Freddy Starr's straight acting as the naive even dim side-kick to Stacy Keach.

The one scene that really stays in my mind is when the kidnappers get the wife to do a striptease and then David Hemmings tells her one of them is going upstairs with her....brrr.

This is one of those movies that reminds me of The Sweeney TV series but it makes that show look so tame in comparison. Old school blaggers in boiler suits with stocking masks and pickaxe handles - 'ave it!!
