Similarities with The Last Boy Scout

I'm wondering if any of you guys have seen an action movie called The Last Boy Scout (1991). It was directed by Tony 'Top Gun' Scott and starred Bruce Willis as a disgraced private eye who investigates corruption in American football and finds a chance to redeem himself in the process. Here are the similarities I noticed between this and The Squeeze.

- Both Bruce Willis' and Stacy Keach's characters are weary and dishevelled, with an appalling track record with women

- Both guys like using their fists and guns when necessary

-Both have sidekicks who are more clean-cut and together, if a little dodgy (Keach had Freddie Starr, a small-time crook, in The Squeeze and Willis had Damon Wayans, who was a more articulate, sensitive and wittier character, even if he did pop pills in Willis' bathroom)

-Both good guys' sidekicks were played by comedians (Freddie Starr and Damon Wayans)

-In both The Squeeze and Last Boy Scout, the villains are ruthless, sadistic, cruel and vicious and like to torture their victims

-A young girl is kidnapped in both films (Keach's ex-wife's daughter in The Squeeze and Willis' daughter in Last Boy Scout)

-There is a massive showdown at the end between the good guys and the bad guys

I guess the only differences are that The Squeeze is set in London and Last Boy Scout is set in LA, and as it's a Hollywood movie, Last Boy Scout has a lot more in the way of action sequences and special effects.

These are all well established genre conventions, it isn't that the two films resemble one another but that they fit into a decades old tradition.
