Is this anyone else's favorite?

I think it's safe for me to say this is my favorite Bond film.

Ditto.

'The Spy . . . ,' as well as 'For Your Eyes Only,' are my favorites from the Moore era. He gets a lot of flack in certain quarters but he can be proud of those two films from the series.

reply

Me too badge7213.

They both absolutely bang.

FYEO is actually my #1. It just has a big of everything in it - not least the greatest ski chase in any film ever.

reply

''The Spy Who Loved Me'' will always be my absolute favorite Bond movie and i will never like that piece of garbage ''Moonraker''.

reply

I love the Moore Bond flicks better than the other dudes, but this one, Spy, is the only one I would risk saying came close to being a masterpiece. Messed me up as a kid. How was was I supposed to wind down after that ride? I think I cried because it was over, or maybe because I wished I was getting out of my wet things with Major Amasova on a floating shark-proof bed. Either way, it was an escape I didn't want to snap out of, and still don't when I watch it yearly or more. I just don't get as verclempt.

reply

Roger Moore himself has stated that this was his favourite Bond film but I personally prefer FYEO with TSWLM in second place.

reply

Good pick. Lots of people hate Moonraker released between those two you mentioned. I think those three movies go really well together (better than any other three-in-a-row in the series) and have worked as well on my dates as "Romancing The Stone" has, lol. Gold section :)

Me too, it's a brilliant film. Anyway, off now to rollerskate off the shed roof wearing a rucksack with a union jack carrier bag and string inside. Then I'll get the cat to hang by his claws off my tie over the sofa and yowl "Pyramids-aaaaggghhhhh" up at me.

Very nice, lol. I'm thinking a soaking wet Barbara Bach look-alike would help with that a lot. If that recreates the magical feelings the movie instills in its fans, others will want to follow suit. Let us know if it works please.

reply

Mine too.

When I was younger I wore out my VHS watching this once or twice every month for a year.

reply

This one was one of my favorite Moore outings.

reply

I agree with you. The best Bond film of all time.

reply

Agreed. One time when the 1st was actually the Best. Why don't the new installments seem as magically enticing? Was my impression elevated through kid googles, or are the newer ones lacking some key elements that made some of the earlier ones more memorable?

reply

It's my number 3. It's such a damn strong escapist film. It's massive is scope, well shot, and overall just such a well done action/adventure film. It's so damn satisfying. The only little issue I have with it is the dated disco score-but that adds to the 70s charm of the film.

I'd say, on a purely escapist/blockbuster level, this is one of the best films there is-Bond or not.

reply

I love Connery, but Roger Morre will always be Bond to me.

Spy Who Loved Me is a perfect film & Man with the Golden Gun is a very vlose second. I love all the Bond films up thru Dalton's. The new ones are ok.

reply

Definitely.

My favourite Bond movie 2nd place being You Only Live Twice and For Your Eyes Only
