I have seen La Soufriere many times over the past few years and regard it as one of my very favorite films. It's such a strange, simple movie about human depravity. We are all humbled in the face of catastrophe. Earth rejects us and so does our fellow man.

I'm totally agree with you. I think this is one of the best examples about what a good documentary film is. As every Herzog's documentaries, Le Soufrière keeps your interest alive throughout the film and it never stops of surprising you. With every new scene, you're in a whole new world of thoughts and sensations. I think this is a masterpiece that combines a impressive factual event with a keen point of view. Somehow, I think that is the mixture to which we're used to when it's about Herzog.
