great film... others??

ok guys,

this movie is especially tearjerking to me since i am john and joey's nephew...

but that is beside the point- i wanted to know if anyone had any other real

saddening movies for them, whether out of personal involvement (aka WWII vets

watching pearl harbor, etc.) or just because it's sad

I had the pleasure of meeting John at SBS when he was signing books in 1998. A true class act!

The first time I watched this film was a surreal experience...I watched the film in class with Mr. Cappiletti john and joey's real life father...He worked at our high school Monsignor Bonner, the same one that John attended and played football at. Me being a football player at the school myself was helped to realize that there are more important things than football in the world and one of them is family and friends.

I loved this film; it showed the ups and downs of such a tragic situation. Marc Singer did a great job and this is a fantastic film that is very underrated because sappy type of movies like that are frowned upon for some stupid reason. I love this film and cry every time I see it. A great life and a great message.

How old was Joey when he died? Did he live to become a teenager? The movie was good but very sad.

Joey was 13 when he passed away. Ive loved this movie since i was a kid when it premiered on tv over 30 years ago. It's right up there with "Brian's Song" and "Untamed Heart".
