Sheriff's son vs. the CEO's son

I JUST realized whom the Sheriff's son reminds me of.

In UHF, there's a similar, incompetent son of a rich and evil CEO of a television network corporation.

I can't remember the names, but they're even treated in a very similar fashion, and somewhat look and behave alike. I wonder if this movie was the inspiration for UHF's version of 'the incompetent son'.
