Why were they speeding? Do the math!

In "real life" there was no reason for Bandit and Snowman (Jerry Reed) to be speeding like they did.

900 miles in 28 hours? Do the math, 900/28= 32 miles per hour. If the boys did the speed limit and did the whole trip going 60 MPH (which is more normal but still right lane traffic), and they took 4 hours of that in segments to eat, pee, and stretch legs, they would have travelled 1,440 miles (24 X 60= 1,440). Going 55 MPH, they could have made the journey in total in about 16 hours, with 12 hours to spare to rest, sleep, eat and bang Sally Field, so.....

I know this because I know math, and I have done roughly this distance, from Las Vegas, Nevada to Memphis Tennessee which was 1600 miles and made it in about that much time.

Maybe Bandit and Snowman didn't understand math well being country boys. So why speed?

Well yeah, it was approximately 900 miles there but the scientific laws a mathery state that it would also be 900 miles back. The speed limit was 55 mph and they had to load the truck with the beer. So the one-way trip was a little over 16 hours. Times 2 is 32 which is 4 hours more than their 28 slotted hours to win the bet.

Geez man, they even made TWO versions of the song: WESTBOUND and Down and EASTBOUND and Down. Each 900 miles.

Not to mention that the interstate wasn't built at that time, they would have taken a back road highway which would have been much, much longer.

The interstate system certainly was built, and they spent lots of time on it. The interstate system was largely completed in the southeast back in the 1950's.

How can it be down both times?

A hill works so that there's one way down, and one way up. If you go down, and then later come back, you must go UP at some point. Why are both ways DOWN?

It makes no sense!

Because they're aren't taking about hills...

So what you're saying, cause you know math. Is if someone was screaming for help you would walk, instead of run to help them cause you walk just as fast as someone running! Or is it possible that you are nothing but a Giant Dildo with too much time on their hands!

It was 1800 miles round trip. Plus, you have to deal with loading 400 cases. There's an hour or 2 gone. Gotta deal with traffic. Gotta deal with law enforcement. You've obviously never made a long trip.

Also need rest at some point too
