ok , sam has said warren was paid 5000 dollars
which when you think about it us not very much considering warren just came off
bring me the head of alfredo garcia and had been in a lot of movies.

and here we have this VERY LOW budget, NZ film, well one of the first movies to be shot in nz, there was no nz film commission and movies in those days..

god, did they bride warren with the allure of smoking great weed and having a holiday in nz? LOL

It was just on National radio now :
Oates came for 2 weeks filming , for $5k + a weeks trout fishing in Queenstown !

In the documentary on the DVD, Roger Donaldson says he originally wanted to get Jack Nicholson for the role. Jack's agent said no when told Roger could only afford $5000, but he did suggest Warren Oates instead.
