Is there a Cantonese version available?

I have the Bruce Lee Ultimate Collection and this movie (and GoD1) is only available with English dub. Is there a DVD with Cantonese?

reply

Actually they're out of stock.

I found another place that has it:

Actually they were out of stock too, but I found one on ebay. Still haven't received it though >:(

I still need to find a reputable place to get a Cantonese version of GoD1.

the Cantonese version of Game of Death is a nightmare to find, i wish you the best of luck with your search.
Is their any reason why it has to be CANTONESE?

It just sounds right. I never listen to the English dubbing in the other movies.

Thanks but, I wouldn't know how to order from there lol.

I see 1 or 2 on ebay that is from the same seller where I got my Cantonese Enter the Dragon from so I know that's legit.

i bought a hong kong vcd version in the same store i found g.o.d.

"Enter the Dragon" was filmed in English; (actually it was supposedly filmed with NO sound and the actors did their voices later, but you can clearly see they are speaking English. And yes, that is Bruce Lee speaking English as well, in his real voice. I tried to watch Enter the dragon in Cantonese; it's unbearable.

reply

Cantonese version of "Enter the Dragon?" If you watch that title in Cantonese you will be watching a mostly dubbed film, as all the major characters were speaking English. I have the 5 disc boxset from Zoke (Hong Kong label) and the enter the Dragon dvd can be watched either in English or Cantonese, but the English is better for that film.

Update:

Tower of Death in Cantonese is available on...

HK Universe dvd (region-free NTSC)(picture quality not as good as Ultimate Collection though)
UK/Australia Hong Kong Legends dvd (region-2/4 PAL)(has the most extra features out of any version)

Game of Death in Cantonese is available on...

China Zoke Culture dvd (region-free NTSC)(also has the Mandarin track)
UK/Australia Hong Kong Legends dvd (region-2/4 PAL)(THE version of GoD to get; has Artport's Shibotekiyugi footage)

It's pretty weird that the HK Ultimate Collection versions of ToD/GoD don't have the Cantonese or Mandarin tracks, but the UK/Australia versions do.

reply

I was talking about Tower of Death, not Game of Death.

reply

"Tower of Death" IS "Game of Death II." It's the same film, re-titled.

Lee didn't record any of lines for Game of Death, but I suspect a majority of it would of been in cantonese and some in english.
