DVD

Does anybody have the Kino DVD and what do you think of it.

If I may answer my own question, it is technically good, without any frills.

There is one question though: the original American release ran to 129 minutes. This DVD, like the Indian release, totals 115 minutes. In a note both contradictory and ambiguous, KINO fails to account for those 14 minutes.

I own the Artificial Eye DVD and the last scene shows signs of wear and clicker, but otherwise, no complaints. I tend to stay clear of Kinos DVDs as they are consistently sub-par and expensive, compared to the British "Eureka - Masters of Cinema" collection or Frances "MK2" DVDs that have the advantage of being PAL region 0 (try these for Tarkovsky films)

I also have the Artificial Eye http://www.artificial-eye.com/film.php?dvd=ART237DVD&wm=true and it's fine/more than good enough, except perhaps for the altered aspect ratio (see the Beaver's comments via the link below).

I saw the Artificial Eye DVD that included interviews with Saeed Jaffrey and Richard Attenborough, neither of which were particularly insightful.

Jaffrey told anecdotes that were not really worth recounting.

Attenborough couldn't recall the details very well for example he said that he definitely discussed Satyajit Ray with Charlie Chaplin after he had made Gandhi which was actually filmed 3 years after Chaplin's death.

That made me doubt that reliability of his other answers.
