Any other bluray release hurt a film as much as this one does in one scene?

Very enjoyable movie and the bluray looks fine, but in the scene where Chris Sarandon's face starts to lose its skin, the HD transfer clearly shows the fishing lines pulling it away. Never noticed it before until the bluray. It really hurts the film. Can't think of another movie where a bluray transfer spotlighted such an obvious error that hadn't been as glaring before but there must be some...?

When The X-Files was transferred from film to HD, the effects had to be redone because the original productions were edited on tape.

With films like The Sentinel, it would make sense for a few SFX touch-ups to take away these unintended blunders. While changing the look of the film goes against film history to a degree, enjoyment goes out the window with these effect errors being magnified by Blu-ray.

George Pal's 1953 film War of the Worlds looked horrible when it got cleaned up for a DVD release. Well, the picture was great, but the tons of wires holding up the large and very heavy Martian War Machine models were very clear. I had never noticed them before the film got remastered. I don't know if it has been altered to digitally remove the wires on Bluray, though.

War of the Worlds was originally three strip TechniColor, which adds extra vibration and shakiness to the image projected. The wires would have been invisible originally, as was the intention, and they still were on VHS and TV broadcast. They should have touched that up for DVD release - would have been quite easy to do.

I agree. I was astonished by how much suddenly showed up on the DVD.
