When did you first see this? Where were you? What did you think?

This was the first "R" rated movie I watched on the (then NEW) cable TV in about 1978 . I enjoyed it and I enjoyed it's "R Rated-ness". LOL . I was in high school at the time and at a friend's house.

But today:

This movie suffers from too much police procedural and too too much borrowing from "Rosemary's Baby".

I also remember walking by a local movie theater in 1977 and this was playing. I had no idea it was a horror movie !
I thought it was about a security guard protecting a rich woman from someone that was out to get her. LOL.

Saw it at the ginormous, 2,000+ seating capacity, Rivoli theater on Broadway in NYC and found it disturbing, disgusting, exploitive, scary and creepy. Seeing it in the dark in that huge theater on an enormous screen intensified the effect the film had on me. I was in high school at the time and thought and still think it's pretty damned shocking!

I saw it at the movie theater at Fort Carson, Colorado, where I was stationed in the 70's. I went with a friend.
I thought it was frightening then. I still find it frightening. It's even better now when you see who was in it! Aside from the principle players which includes Eli Wallach and John Carradine, you have a young Christopher Walken and at the very end of the film, a young Tom Berenger!
