I MEAN THEY WERE SO BAD,REALLY BAD.THAT LAME SONG THEY KEPT PLAYING "BIG BOYS",LOL,WOULD NEVER STOP.IT PLAYED THE WHOLE TIME THAT THEY WERE REMOVING THE BOMB FROM THE ROLLER COASTER.AND THEN THE KISS RIP OFF AT THE END OF THAT LAME SONG WHEN THE BAND STARTED TRASHING THEIR EQUIPMENT,WAS SO HYSTERICAL.THEY MUST HAVE PAID THOSE PEOPLE ALOT OF MONEY IN THAT CROWD TO CHEER ON THAT CRAP.DON'T GET ME WRONG I LOVED THE MOVIE,BUT THAT WAS THE DUMBEST THING IN THE WHOLE MOVIE.

LOL i agree, but i think they were ued as an overlay to the scene which they play big boy for almost 14 minutes. so i think its safe it was used as pure BS just too givethe illusion that al this happened so quickly.

Actually it was Sparks, a glam/cult band at the time from Europe. They were "critics darlings", as in good reviews, but so-so sales. Their LP's were all released in the USA as well. A great band lucky to get a spot in a major US film replacing the Bay City Rollers,who backed out,I guess or whatever,victimized by a bad editing job and poor selection of a song to be repeated ad nauseum... With better editing and better songs, they might have come off better. As it is, this is their sole appearance on the silver screen in the USA. They are actually still putting out cds and touring today! Check them out at Amazon.com...

Their albums have never been out of print actually. They are a successful cult group

Actually, I found Sparks to be a musically good band, and the stage act was well ahead of its time. The Mael brothers were onto something. It's too bad that the American music public was too into Disco at the time to realize it.

Actually, somewhere in this thread, it was reported that this band was from England. I believe that Ron and Russell Mael were actually from LA, where the rest of the band may be from as well. I just think a lot of their music still sells better in Europe.

Sparks was actually a really fun band with lots of catchy tunes who have put out scads of albums in a very long career. They were made to look and sound silly in this movie but if you check out their late '70s work like the albums Propaganda and Kimono My House you'll get an idea of why they were VERY popular in England (not much in the US where they are from). Paul McCartney even imitates Russel Mael in his Coming Up video.

Hmmm... Geez, you know, after reading your post I kind of have a hankerin' for a Bob's Big Boy! 

I disagree, SPARKS are a cool band.They did some very innovative stuff early on in the 80's.

you goddamn philistines could never appreaciate a band like sparks.they were one of the most innovative bands to come out of the seventies.and what is it with people who don't like to hear song choruses repeated?if a part of a song is good enough,i could listen to it for an hour.and yes,that includes big boy.if i'm getting through to anybody,you should pick up sparks'"kimono my house" album from 1974.i think most fans agree it's their best.you can get it off amazon,or ebay,or any music store that has a sparks section.and yes,their stuff is in print and relatively easy to find.

In reality, the band isn't so bad and they didn't imitate KISS by trashing their instruments but rather The Who. Check out "This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both of Us"

FYI they have another song, on the same album as Big Boy, called "Everybody's Stupid". You should check that one out, you might be able to relate more.
