Underrated as hell!

Seriously, why nobody talks about this movie more?

It has great actors who do their job right, direction is also good, atmosphere of fear is wonderfull, cinematography is quite good, special effects are CREEPY,death scenes are actually realistic and therefore sometimes hard to watch, and ending is one of the better ones that i seen from some movie in this genre.

Scene where decapitated head is found by two characters as soon as they wake up really shocked the hell out of me when i first saw it and ending "fight" between last survivor and killer kept me on edge first few times when i saw the movie. I think that these scenes still pack a punch even after repeated viewings.

Speaking of gore in Rituals,i'm glad that Code Red has released uncut version, cause after seeing so much shty versions with different titles, seeing all uncut gore is amazing.

One thing that i didn't really understand is what did the army doctors did to Crawley that his face was in such a mess. If somebody can explain it,be my guest.

Anyway,i just wanted to say a few words about this film. I'll put it right with Deliverance and Southern Comfort quality as another "lost in backwoods" type of movie. I could put it with some B films, but i think that it deserves more then that.

10/10

And i would like to say thank you to Code Red for good quality release of this.

I think few talk about this movie because it's hard to find. I've never even heard of it, I just found it on YouTube and thought the premise sounded good, and it's from the 70s and has Hal Holbrook? Seemed like a good throwaway, but it was actually legitimately really good.

Anyway, from my poking around on the web it seems like the consensus is the killer was so horribly damaged by his war injuries that he should have died (and would have been better off that way) but doctors cobbled him back together and now he has to live with this monstrous face and god knows what other injuries. One x-ray showed a plate in his head, another thing mentioned traction -- so perhaps he was not only burned terribly but also broke many bones? Maybe a helicopter crash? He never speaks either, so perhaps the situation where he was horribly burned also led to him having lost the ability to speak? Just spitballing here. There's so little about this movie online that we sadly have little to go on.

Underrated? This is one of the most boring movies I ever tried to sit through. Not to mention it was so poorly photographed you couldn't see what was happening in the last part of the movie.

I concur. Unscary film, and impossible to figure out a thing in the last 10 minutes.

🐺 Boycott movies that involve real animal violence (& their directors) 🐾

I don't find it underrated and feel the IMDB score is right on the money. Personally I gave it a 7. Good movie, but not earth-shattering or anything, and not as good as Deliverance.

Cool.
