Great + Interesting TV Movie

I've got the dvd & am looking at it again just now. What a heroic & wonderful thing that the Israeli's did to save those people. They pulled it off & it was really something.

I was just about to turn 13 when this happened, and I remember it well. There was a certain pall on the western world at the time. Vietnam had just ended badly, the Israeli athletes in the '72 Olympics had been killed, and there was just a general feeling that the good guys didn't win anymore--if they even bothered to fight.

The Isreali victory was a real shot in the arm. The British victory in the Falkland Islands six years later did the same sort of thing.

I agree with you. It was a gutsy, go for it play that paid off in spades.

But I think the movie is a real by the numbers affair. I'm usually not a great advocate of remakes, but in this case, I'll go for the exception to the rule.

I think the rescue is worthy of a really good film, but this, IMO, is not it.
