I think the Sergeant's voice is dubbed.

All Italian movies of this era were dubbed. The Italians didn't bother with all of the elaborate microphone set ups that Hollywood studios used. Plus dubbing meant they could use Italian actors who didn't speak English and it wouldn't matter because they're real voices wouldn't be in the final picture.
