The town of "Passamaquoddy" portrayed in the film does not exit. "Passamaquoddy" is the name of the Indian tribe that lives in Norther Maine. See http://www.passamaquoddy.com/

Passamaquoddy Bay, on the Maine/New Brunswick border is very real, although the town in the movie is fictional.

For Passamaquoddy - with the matte paintings included, the film was shot at Disney Studios in Burbank and at Disney Golden Oak Ranch in Santa Clarita, CA.
