I've always loved Helen Reddy, but, seriously, did anyone at Disney involved with casting the film, bother to watch her ''Debut'' in ''Airport 1975'', before starring her in this?. Suicide-plain Suicide.
shareI agree that her performance in Airport was not good. Having not seen this film, I hope she was better. I don't know what you mean by suicide-plan, unless another actress/singer would had made the film more profitable
shareI didn't have a problem with Reddy in Pete's Dragon. I thought she played lovely and sweet wonderfully, plus she could sing and it was a musical.
According to the trivia, they wanted Olivia Newton John, but she was unavailable. I have seen Reddy on some tv specials, like with Carol Burnett and she does have some comic timing too. I'd also say she is a better actress than ONJ from what I have seen. ONJ is very natural though and for the part, she did well in Grease.
