He actually narrates (as he is now) this documentory on the making of 'Pete's Dragon'.

His narration as an adult comes across really well, but you don't see him and he states during the piece that he loved everything about acting and film making except the fame. He then says he left acting when he went to college.
He doesn't show himself (I imagine) because he would now be able to live a regular life without people pointing at him in the street and saying "That's the kid from Pete's Dragon". It's a really lucky thing for someone who decided they didn't want to be famous to be able to become anonymous again, so I get why he doesn't put his face out there now. He'd be in regular business and it would be easy for people to start posting his e-mail address or contact details all over the place. Luckily Sean Marshall is quite a common name so without knowing what he looks like, nobody could be sure if it was really him if they found details.
