This misses the point of the original story.

When ERB wrote The Land That Time Forgot, he was actually writing more than a simple adventure story. Each of the component novellas of the novel--Land That Time Forgot, People That Time Forgot, and Out of Time's Abyss--builds on a concept of the whole of evolution's being present in each non-Galu native of Caspak (Caprona).

Some Galus have also evolved this way while others were born Galus. The Wieroo--distorted into the samurai-like Nagas of this film--were a particularly loathsome parallel evolution of mankind capable of crossbreeding with humans. This all adds to both the horror and the ambitions of the stories.

Unfortunately while Land That Time Forgot adheres closely to the first novella and hints at the wonders of Caspak, People That Time Forgot has the Galus destroyed offstage by the Nagas and dumbs down the original story to a tepid action-adventure story with cliched destruction of the entire island taken right out of Son of Kong.

It could have been so much better but settled for being a middling entry into the Lost World subgenre. This is sad because Land That Time Forgot was a great setup for this film.

Requiescat in pace, Krystle Papile. I'll always miss you. Justice was finally served.

The island wasn`t destroyed only the volcano was following the heroes trying to prevent their escape,it`s powers stopped at the seashore, the only thing that sank was the seaplane,I noticed that the name caprona was not mentioned at all by anybody in the film,I wonder why?
