Anyone see this in the theatre?

I don't remember this ever coming to my local theatre back in the day and I didn't even realize it existed until about 5-6 years ago. I am wondering how much of a release it received back in '77. With Robert Clouse and Joe Don Baker attached it had some "name" power to it. Anyone know?

I saw this film when I lived in Panama in1978. It was making the circuit through the military bases theaters. I can't say that I remember much about it's release, but I can tell you that it was considered to be a 'B' movie and was treated that way. It only had one-night showings. Now movies like Superman, Star Wars, and Alien got three-day weekends. Sometimes four if the movie was really popular.

I remember this well when it came out to the theatres, as I was just in High School, but not quite old enough for me to get into the movie. My cousin and I snuck in, and LOVED it! We saw it two more times after that, too. I haven't seen it since then, but I ordered a DVD of the film and should have it any day---can't wait!

I remember the theatre was crowded opening night---I live in Minnesota and saw it at the Eden Prairie movie theatre---and that it was pretty intense (I say that because I remember specifically a woman turning to her husband and saying, "I can't watch this anymore, I'll wait for you in the lobby", and she left, and when she did, so did about 10 other people!).

There was a whole slew of these low-budget films that came out around that time---I saw almost all of them, as they were typically in the theatres for just a few weeks, and then gone---and this was prior to video, so if you didn't see them when they were out, you were out of luck! And I was always a HUGE horror fan, subscribed to Fangoria, etc.---so I knew of all the films coming out, and was always first in line!

Hell yes! I saw this in late 1977 when it played theaters. The poster for The Pack and the commercials were what made me ask my Dad to go and see The Pack.

Funny story-my friend Yoskue (he was Japanese) and I loved horror films, especially creature flicks. During the showing of this we were terrified and the projector broke down so we told my Dad it was OK to take us home. He said, "You guys drug me out here to see this stupid movie so I'm going to the box office to complain and get it fixed".

He did just that and we saw the rest of it hiding under our coats. I don't remember much other than the old blind man standing in the dark at his window and a dog jumping through the window and killing him which scared the crap out of us (we were 8 years old).

I now have the DVD from Warner Archives but haven't picked the right time to watch it yet. Man, the films I saw in theaters as a kid-The Pack, Giant Spider Invasion, Orca, Piranha, The Swarm, A*P*E (in 3D!)-those were the days!

I remember when this came out. I was about 12 and I was desperate to see it, but never got to go. In the intervening years, I've collected the original poster (which I've had framed and hanging in my hallway--even though the artwork is so minimal--just the silhouette of the dogs--something about it speaks to me). I have still NEVER seen the film, but I do have the DVD and will be--finally--36 freakin' years later--getting to see it TONIGHT! Yahooo!

I will always remember seeing this film at the Drive-In!! It was on a double bill with the film, Grizzly. I was only about 7 years old, and both of them scared the living *beep* outta me! BUT, the best thing ever happened during the showing of "The Pack". My brother and I saw a stray dog wandering around in the Drive-In, and he got a great idea. He started tossing Milk Duds beside the car next to us(which belonged to a friend of his). The dog ran over and started devouring the candy, and when he was done, almost as he had been ordered to do so, he stood up on his hind legs and put his face in the car window!!! My brother's friend, and his girlfriend started screaming so loudly, and cranked his car, and was going to take off out of the theatre.....until my brother went and saved him, and let him in on the joke!! I guess you had to be there, but since the film was about killer dogs, and a dog jumped up on the car....it was just priceless!! I miss times like that, movies like that, and drive-ins!!

Meat's meat, and man's gotta eat!!

I saw this in the theater when I was a kid. I was 5 or 6 years old! It scared me silly and is one of my favorite films. I have it on VHS.
