Probably the best killer dog movie ever made !

Iconic director Robert Clouse teams up again with producer Fred Weintraub (both from ENTER THE DRAGON fame and many other pictures together) in this great 70's low budget killer dog / horror movie.
Although the plot is typical of the genre, there are many other elements that contribute to its value.
Normally, in these type of movies there is no much quality (with the exception of Cujo).
Here, we have a superb Joe Don Baker (he previously worked for Clouse in the Hong Kong martial arts film GOLDEN NEEDLES) as the lead male who will fight to the end against a pack of hungry dogs.
His performance is outstanding, to say the least.
The supporting cast is also very good.
The music score and the location add to the picture further quality, whilst the distinctive and extremely competent direction of Robert Clouse provides with the right amount of action and suspense.
Just a great movie and without a doubt...one of Clouse's best works !!

Agreed. It's a very tense and gripping film. Director Robert Clouse does a solid job of crafting plenty of tension and stages the dog attacks with real flair and skill.

Robert Clouse is one of my favourite directors of all time.
Although, he will always be remembered as the man who directed Bruce Lee in the epic martial arts classic ENTER THE DRAGON (and a few years later GAME OF DEATH), he also proved to be a very competent director even in the few non-martial arts movies he made.
THE PACK and DEADLY EYES were the only 2 killer animal movies Clouse did and on both works tension and atmosphere were superb.
I give this film 4 stars.

The Ultimate Warrior is an excellent and exciting sci-fi action film as well.

THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR is considered by many fans as his second best work after ENTER THE DRAGON.
Another great gem of his is BLACK BELT JONES.
Watch also GOLDEN NEEDLES, DARKER THAN AMBER and THE AMSTERDAM KILL.

.....you won't be disappointed !!

All goodies.

Totally agree. I was impressed by how the film makers made the film to where you could feel equally sad for both the humans and the dogs. I'm not going to spoil the ending for those who might see it, but it is very good and fitting, IMHO.

In the first place, Cujo is the best killer dog movie I can ever remember seeing. Second, this movie missed the mark of being good simply because the movie should have ended several times if the characters had done what was obvious in order to end the situation. The best example is perhaps when Jerry had an opportunity to blow the lead dog away and instead decided to use the butt of the gun instead of the bullets within.

Also, good horror movies... DO NOT HAVE HAPPY ENDINGS!!
