Part 2?

If I'm not mistaken, there was a second book written years later about the outcome of "The Other Side Of Midnight". Easy enough to check, just being lazy.....

I cannot believe IMDb still hasn't fixed wrong pink poster.....

The title of Sidney Sheldon's sequel is "Memories of Midnight."

And it was perfectly dreadful.

Yeah "Memories of Midnight" was pretty terrible (and completely not needed). However considering this film was a huge disaster at the box office I don't think we need to worry about "Memories..." being made into a movie.

It was made into a mini-series with Jane Seymore: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101197/

Well, dramatically speaking, the only reason to do a sequel was to find out if Catherine (the only likable lead in the first book) gets her memory back...or is permanantly brain damaged from being swept out to sea in a storm.

NOTE: I never thought I'd write a setence like that in my life.

At any rate, if you take the original seriously (which sadly, part of me does!), you are worried about what Catherine's fate is, at the end.

I think the sequel was written because "Other" was the most successful book Robbins ever wrote. "Other" ended perfectly with Catherine alive (if not well) and living in peace and seclusion.

reply

But it was sad she lost her brain.

reply

True but after what she went through who wouldn't? And, in the book, when she is told her husband and mistress are dead now there is a glimmer of satisfaction in her face so maybe she wasn't completely gone.

reply

I thought it was Sidney Sheldon. Is that a pen name or something?

reply

I just finished reading both of the books. I thought they were very good. Pretty predictable and the later seemed hurried but I enjoyed them. I hope they redo them.
