Henry Steele = Larry Bird

Ironic that while this was being written and filmed that an unknown Larry Bird was leaving Indiana and Bobby Knight, and ended up at little known Indiana State and the Sycamores. But of course his departure was more mutual.

Henry Steele was probably more like Steve Alford. Larry Bird was 6-9, very tall for a forward in the 1970s.

I saw Bird and his ISU team play several games. Alex Gilbert and Brad Miley played low-post C/F.

Bird played the center of the zone on defense sometimes to get his rebounding near the basket, but most of his offense was outside along the perimiter of what would now be the 3-point line.

In any case while Bird was like 6-9 and 230, Henry Steele was 5-9 and about 140.
