Scary and memorable

I too saw this movie when I was a kid and it scared the crap out of me. I recently saw it again and it had the same effect. This was truly an effectively scary movie.

I quite liked it also. had a very "Twilight zone" feel to it. I can see where films like "Joyride" got their inspiration from this.

I thought it was a well-done, low budget movie. It had the look and feel of a made-for-TV movie (I watched it on MGM-HD channel, without commercials, but I did happen to notice the pause edits where commercials were supposed to be aired).

Anyway, they did a really good job of creating an aura of suspense and creepiness. And I liked how Valerie Harper's character was at least reasonably resourceful, and sometimes downright ingenious, in spite of all those really nasty things that seemed to keep happening to her!

I agree with this. It's a nice, taut, plausible little thriller of an everyday woman suddenly finding herself trying desperately to cope with a life and death situation. The ironic dialogue at the end was an especially good touch.
