Final Song ?

I was wondering if any of you remember the song at the end of the movie ?

I searched everywhere for this information and was only able to find the name of the compositor, who is Roger Kellaway...

I really need to know the title of this beautiful song, as I kept the melody somewhere in my mind, after all these years without being able to put a name on it.

I'll really appreciate any help.

I think the song was called "Tell Me My Name" God, I haven't seen this movie in over twenty years, but I remember being infinitely moved, crying and singing and laughing. I can't find it online, sorry, but I'll keep an eye out for it. Best of luck!

I think it's called 'What is my name'? or 'This is Home'...I have the VHS and checked the credits and didn't see anything about the song. I do know the lyrics, maybe that will help a little, I ADORE this movie. I swell full of tears at the mear thought of even humming the song:

Moon in the trees,
Leaves on the water,
This is my name,
My name is laughter.

And always,
As I wander under the unbrella of the sky,
warm in the sun,
I know that I, have become someone...

Stars overhead,
Silent and endless,
noone's alone, noone is friendless.

I think out,
That wonderous world I no longer have to roam,
and close the door,
Knowing my name,
and knowing this is home.....

Sorry I can't find the title either...: (

Thank you so much.....
I have been searching for this movie my whole life, since I was about 4 years old, and I have always carried a tiny snatch of it deep inside.
You have no idea how much it means to finally see those long forgotten words.I read them and cried. I haven't seen this at all since I was little, and then only once! I'm 27 now, if it's any idea:)
Oh, thank you.

*UPDATE*
I found the opening credits on Youtube thanks to another poster's link,
and I was able to do a transcript of the sonf from the audio.
It may not be 100 percent correct, but here's what I was able to get.

Moon in the trees,
Leaves on the water,
Tell me my name,
What am I here for?
And always,
As I wander under the umbrella of the sky,
warm in the sun,
and who am I? I must be someone ...
Stars overhead,
Silent and flowing,
Tell me my name, where am I going?
There must be, out in the world it somehow seems I have to find,
Some one who’s mine, and know my name,
and who will take me home.

Stars overhead, silently blowing,
Tell me my name,
Where am I going?
There must be, out in the world it somehow seems I have to find,
Some one who’s mine, and know my name, and he will take me home.

Thanks for all your help!
You have really brought back something I thought was lost forever.

You can buy a copy of it on DVD on Ebay. It's not an original copy but i don't think it will ever be released officially on DVD. But the quality of the copy is all right or just buy it on VHS(it will be used ofcourse). Good Luck.

Big thanks for this thread and the folks who answered it.

For almost thirty years, I've heard the line, "I know my name, my name is LESTER."

Talk about misheard lyrics ... I just KNEW that couldn't be right!

I just got a copy from my local library, and I'm checking the credits at the end and here is what it says about the songs:

Music by Roger Kellaway

Lyrics by Gene Lees

Music Supervisor Jules Chaikin

"Scat Rat" sung by Roger Kellaway

"Much in Little" sung by Robin Reed

"Tell Me My Name" sung by Colin Chastain Kellaway.

That's interesting. It looks like the boy singing the opening and closing song is the son of the song writer who also sang the bad guys song. Here is his website:

Thank you for the website link to Roger Kellaway. I love that song. Turns out he also composed the ending theme to All in The Family, too. Amazing work. I just love song credits.
