The freakiest kids film of all time...

This film is seriously messed up...just thinking about that scene when the rat kills the mouse with a stone...makes me shudder

Does anyone agree?

What film freaked you out the most as a child??

I saw A MOUSE AND HIS CHILD and what I remember of it was a scene where the rat kills another character and you can hear him screaming and on the screen you can see the shadows of the rat and his victim (I think he tears him apart). After 30 years, I STILL haven't forgotten that image.

You used to could show more on television a long time ago. This movie would have had a PG rating now. I remember being frightened back then, but as I watch it now again 30 years later--I actually get it! Definitely an adult "cartoon" with hidden message.

my mother and I got this movie for my older sister, since this is her favorite movie. I asked her what it was about and she told me a little about it. she warned me that it's a "dark and sad" type of movie. I saw this movie on youtube, and she wasn't kidding! after I saw the rat smash the mouse and his child apart, it freaked me out. and that was just earlier this year! cartoons don't normally get me like that, but I won't watch that part now. my sis was five when this movie came out, and I have no idea how she could sit through that.

yeah i watched this as a kid and adored it. I mean I was watching SCTV when I was 5 as well so I just think I took to anything original and striking. This movie was definitely a winner... I need to watch it again...its been a real real long time.

The scene with the donkey disturbed me, but it also led to my empathy towards humans and animals, and not being able to stand seeing anyone in pain, so I think it was good that I saw it at a young age. It stayed with me, and probably made me a more caring person overall. That movie is intense, but there was nothing in it that, looking back, I don't think I should have seen.

The movie that scared me the most as a kid was probably "Return To Oz". The part where Dorothy is running from Mumby and all those heads are yelling in the cases, oh my goodness that freaked me out! "The Watcher In The Woods" was a freaky one too. I always got scared when the girl appeared in the mirror. Oh, and "Something Wicked This Way Comes". I don't know if that movie was really for kids, but I watched it and it gave me the creeps. I loved those movies though and still do. It figures, ha ha.

I have the same exact memory that also scared the bejesus out of me as a child.

I couldn't even remember the movie's name until a friend reminded me, years later.
