if you watch it along with "The Gallant Hours" (1960) starring James Cagney as William Frederick Halsey, Jr., better known as Admiral "Bull" Halsey, it gives you a good idea of the WWII campaign in the South Pacific.

Good acting by Gregory Peck, but overall this was not a very good movie.

"The Gallant Hours" was far superior to "Macarthur".
