Fire Walk With Me

Just noticed how similar the murder of Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee's character) at the end of David Lynch's 1992 "Fire Walk With Me" is to that of Theresa at the end of "Looking for Mr. Goodbar", both in terms of mise-en-scène and context (the editing, the strobe lights, the stabbing, blood and confusion, the insane perpetrator torn between feelings of guilt and sadistic homicidal rage, the victim more or less welcoming death...).

The victims in both films also display many similarities: serious daddy issues, drugs, life spiraling out of control, promiscuity...

Check it out, I think Lynch might have been influenced by Brooks' film (definitely NSFW):
