I would love to see a remake

I did enjoy the movie. I have it both on VHS and DVD, but would love to see it redone. I felt that the director did not have the entire picture of what Sondheim wanted to do. Considering that the musical is about the same length of a regular movie, I feel that they could really do it justice. I have seen A Little Night Music live 2 times and loved it both times.

If they do go for a remake I hope they go for singing ability before going for the star power to bring people into the theatre.

The songs I feel are best are:
Now, Soon, Later
A Weekend in the Country
The Miller's Son
Send in the Clowns

To leave out a single one is a crime, and with the multiple layers of the a Weekend in the Country and Now, Soon, Later. It must be handled just right.

This is a remake. The original film is by Igmar Bergman called Smiles of A Summer Night. It is not in English and uses subtitles, but I enjoyed it netherless.
